November 17: A Day of Social Media and Internet Marketing
Two peninsula events for businesses, governments, and nonprofits

On Thursday, November 17, two Kitsap entities are offering informational seminars which can kick start or improve your efforts.

West Sound Technology Association’s  (WSTA) monthly meeting, which takes place the third Thursday of most months, is “New Trends in Internet Marketing”. It will be held from 5:30p-7:30p in Poulsbo City Hall’s City Council Chambers. WSTA’s presentations are known for being informative, engaging, and easily translated from tech to everyday speak. This one is no different.

Though the target audience includes those who have already secured a domain, set up a website, and embarked upon standard social media and internet marketing practices, the presenters - Charles Keating and Larry Sivitz - have 60+ years of combined experience as consultants who are accustomed to all levels of client knowledge.

It was quite interesting to see them in action at Kitsap Peninsula Visitor and Convention Bureau’s Tourism Roundtable II event, where attendees proudly raised their hands in affirmative response to impromptu survey questions regarding their internet and social media use. As the questions became more specific and in depth, users realised they weren’t perhaps as current as they believed.

Keating and Sivitz will engage participants about SEO (Search Engine Optimization), internet marketing strategy, and more, in an interactive conversation (and with demonstrations) regarding some of the “Must-Dos” for keeping abreast. Earlier that same day from 9am-12noon, Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce is hosting a social media presentation at Islandwood. “Social Media for Small Businesses and Nonprofits” includes co-presenters Frank J. Kenny, national speaker on social media topics, and Dana Pethia, Pacific Northwest Regional Development Director of Constant Contact. Cost is $29 for any Chamber member, and $39 non-members. The above events are an invaluable and rare opportunity. For a maximum investment of $49, attendees will receive information from international level professionals in intimate settings, and for hundreds or thousands less than one would pay on the conference circuit.
