Once again demonstrating his indifference to the affordable housing crisis plaguing Washington State, Gov. Gary Locke vetoed HB 1430, legislation requiring all state agencies to conduct a housing impact statement on proposed regulations.

Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County, a non-profit ecumenical organization working to eliminate poverty housing locally, is seeking detail-oriented and organized individuals to serve on its Family Selection Committee for five to ten hours a week for four months a year. Duties include presenting qualification information to potential applicants and assisting applicants in filling out the application as well as financial forms. Members will be required to perform house visits and ensure legal requirements are met and documented. read more »
