Clearwater Casino is now officially the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort. Its resort-style hotel opened its doors for guests on May 26, after an open house event for the public on May 25 that featured live music, complimentary food and prize giveaways.

The 85-room destination hotel offers guests four-diamond amenities — AAA is expected to review the resort several months after it opens to give its official rating — including water views, a full-service spa and an indoor/outdoor zero-entry pool, which is scheduled to be completed later this summer. read more »

 

Housing affordability conditions have improved for two consecutive quarters, keeping housing within reach for people in most of the country, according to the National Association of Realtors .

NAR’s composite Housing Affordability Index was 132.9 during the first quarter, up 1.1 percentage points from 131.8 in the fourth quarter of 2004; the index was 8.3 points below the first quarter of last year when it stood at 141.2. read more »

 

The strong sellers market from Gig Harbor to Bainbridge Island — and all point in between — in the last couple of years has been tough on the buyers, especially first-timers. As if last year’s market wasn’t bad enough, Realtors report that it has gotten worse. The experience of buying a home, especially in a competitive price range, has turned into a real frenzy.
