Entrepreneurship week begins with session on attracting filmmakers to area locations

Global Entrepreneurship Week activities in Kitsap County kick off Nov. 18 with a presentation called Is Your Business Location a Star? The Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce and Washington Filmworks present an information session about what film, commercial and video producers seek for location sites, props and location assistance services.

The event, which will include appetizers and beverages, will be held from 4-6 p.m. at Kiana Lodge in Poulsbo. Property owners, video and film industry companies, owners of unique and unusual props, as well as those interested in the film industry are invited to attend.

Washington Filmworks is the legislatively commissioned organization that manages the state’s film and production incentive programs. Their focus is to create economic development opportunities throughout the state for local and national filmmakers. They do this by working with filmmakers and local communities and offer comprehensive production support as well as financial incentives that generate revenue and create jobs.

The average commercial approved through Washington Filmworks spends an estimated $250,000 in a local community in less than a week. Washington Filmworks believes Kitsap County can benefit from the film industry as well, and wants to let residents and business owners know how to get their communities noticed.

Space is limited for this event, which costs $15. Register at http://isyourbusinessastar.brownpapertickets.com/. This event is part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2013, the nation’s largest entrepreneurship-focused campaign that runs from Nov. 18-24.
